NVIDIA (NVDA) and its peer Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) fell 2% and 4%, respectively.

Flash memory chip maker SanDisk (SNDK), once the best-performing stock among S&P 500 constituents in 2026, plunged another 6% this week after a 5% drop in the previous trading day.

Popular memory chip stock Micron Technology (MU) fell 4%; SK Hynix (SKHY) also declined, extending its losses from the previous trading day.

Chip foundry Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM) reported record profits, but that did not boost market sentiment. The world's largest chip foundry's shares fell 4%.

Concerns about rising capital costs for companies carrying huge debts on their balance sheets, combined with inflation data exceeding expectations, have renewed market worries that rising prices will influence the Federal Reserve's next policy decision.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the September producer price index (PPI) posted its largest increase since 2022, further intensifying market concerns about higher future borrowing costs.

Meanwhile, bond yields on CoreWeave, in which NVIDIA has invested, surged, raising market concerns about the highly leveraged balance sheets of this new generation of cloud companies and the pressure from rising interest rates in a highly sticky inflation environment. CoreWeave's shares fell as much as 7% on Thursday, continuing to decline after a sharp drop in the previous trading day.
