On August 28, at the 2026 semi-annual results briefing, the president of Industrial Bank Co.,Ltd. expressed strong confidence in the bank's retail business, noting that retail system integration has been the core focus of its retail strategy over the past three years. In 2026, the bank is prioritizing quality improvement in retail system construction, guided by the principles of "clear goals, systematic operations, open collaboration, and persistent effort," while advancing integrated operations to strengthen customer acquisition, scenario building, comprehensive service capabilities, and value creation.
As of the end of June, Industrial Bank Co.,Ltd. reported retail deposits of RMB 1.89 trillion, an increase of RMB 87.7 billion from the start of the year. Among these, retail settlement deposits grew by RMB 35.9 billion, up 7.7%, while the retail deposit interest rate dropped to 1.56%, a year-on-year decline of 33 basis points. The bank's total retail customer base reached 117 million, adding 1.98 million customers during the period, and retail AUM surpassed RMB 6 trillion. Retail wealth management intermediary income reached RMB 34.41 billion, up 24% compared to the same period last year.
While the retail asset business aligns with broader industry trends and faces certain pressures, the bank remains committed to exploring existing customers and expanding non-mortgage business to sustain steady asset growth. Looking ahead, Industrial Bank Co.,Ltd. will steadily advance retail system integration, elevate wealth management capabilities, and support industrial finance to shift from scale expansion to value creation through enhanced customer acquisition and value enhancement.
Three key priorities guide this effort: first, leveraging system integration to unlock internal momentum and boost retail operational efficiency; second, positioning wealth management as a breakthrough to drive retail value growth; and third, focusing on industrial finance to establish an integrated "industry + retail" service model. The president emphasized, "Our goal for retail system integration is to achieve lasting success through persistence. This marks nearly three years of effort, and I believe the initial benefits are already visible. In the coming months, into the second half and next year, these results will become even more pronounced."
