From July 3rd to 5th, nearly 200 distinctive agricultural products from Yunyang, the core water source area for the South-to-North Water Diversion Project's middle route, were showcased at the Fountain Square on Wangfujing Pedestrian Street.
Concurrently, the "South-to-North Water Diversion · Yunyang Flavors" Food and Culture Festival was launched, allowing residents in the capital to savor the original ecological flavors from the distant Han River region right at their doorstep.
On the opening day of the exhibition, the main venue was bustling with crowds, attracting numerous citizens and tourists to stop and experience.
Within the 600-square-meter exhibition area, 20 standard and specially designed booths were neatly arranged, divided into three main sections: agricultural product sales, jewelry and jade displays, and cultural tourism resource promotion, offering a comprehensive display of the ecological produce and cultural charm of the water source area.
In the agricultural product sales zone, national geographical indication products from Yunyang, such as olive oil, mushrooms, and sweet potato noodles, were lined up, alongside a dazzling array of eco-friendly processed products like rice wine, fresh bamboo shoots, and kudzu root powder.
The on-site free tasting area was particularly popular, with citizens eagerly sampling the original ecological flavors from the Han River water source region.
The jewelry and jade zone was equally eye-catching, featuring exquisite displays of Yungaishi turquoise, Yunyang beige jade raw stones, and various craft ornaments and jewelry, vividly presenting the "art hidden within the stones" of Yunyang.
The cultural tourism promotion zone, themed "Cultural Heritage of Wudang, Exploring the Origins of Yunyang," focused on promoting world-class cultural tourism resources such as the Xuetangliangzi "Yunxian Man" site and the Qinglongshan Dinosaur Egg Fossil Group National Geopark.
It also introduced several premium tour routes, including historical exploration and landscape leisure tours, extending a warm invitation to Beijing families to "take a trip to the water source area."
A major highlight of this exhibition was the dual-track model of "main venue sales + government canteen food tasting." Starting from June 29th, 14 government canteens in Dongcheng District率先 initiated branch venues for tasting Yunyang specialty foods, cumulatively attracting thousands of staff members to sample the offerings.
Yunyang chef teams were on-site preparing nearly ten signature dishes, including rice wine-braised pork belly, Yunyang fish pieces, and vermicelli buns, paired with Polygonatum sibiricum vitality water drinks, allowing Dongcheng District staff to experience the water source area's culinary culture without leaving their workplace.
This event was not merely an agricultural product exhibition but also a practical initiative to broaden the channels for water source area products to enter Beijing through consumption support.
By facilitating "green products entering Beijing" to open sales channels and encouraging "Beijing tourists visiting Yunyang" to boost cultural tourism consumption in the water source area, the two regions are implementing concrete measures to realize the high-quality development plans for the follow-up projects of the South-to-North Water Diversion and the consensus on counterpart cooperation.
