Wang Shi's Legal Counsel Initiates Legal Proceedings Against Defamation

Deep News04-14

Wang Shi's legal representative has issued a formal statement announcing the commencement of legal proceedings to address defamatory content.

On April 14, Weibo user "Zhou Zhaocheng Lawyer" posted a statement on the platform. The statement clarifies that Beijing Anjian Law Firm has been exclusively authorized by Wang Shi to address recent malicious online rumors and slander against him.

According to the legal statement, on April 12, 2026, certain internet users publicly spread false information on social media platforms claiming "Wang Shi has been arrested." This was done without any factual basis, official sources, or supporting evidence. The rumor rapidly spread across the internet, leading to speculative discussions and malicious interpretations. The topic became a trending search item, causing widespread public misunderstanding, severely infringing upon Wang Shi's reputation, and creating an extremely negative online impact.

Lawyer Zhou Zhaocheng clarified three key points of fact: First, the claim that "Wang Shi has been arrested" is entirely a malicious fabrication. As of the release of this statement, Wang Shi's personal freedom is unrestricted, his work and daily life proceed normally, and there is no situation where judicial authorities have taken any compulsory measures against him. Second, Wang Shi stepped down from his position as Chairman of the Board of China Vanke Co.,Ltd. as early as June 2017 and is no longer involved in the company's daily operations and management. Linking China Vanke Co.,Ltd.'s operational status to him personally and fabricating rumors about accountability is purely subjective conjecture and malicious defamation. Third, all baseless speculation and defamation regarding Wang Shi's health status, private life, and other matters, which lack authoritative sources, constitute false information.

Zhou Zhaocheng stated that his team has completed comprehensive evidence collection and preservation for all infringing content. They have formally initiated a full-chain legal accountability process, pursuing both criminal and civil avenues. The team will pursue full legal liability against all entities responsible for creating and spreading the rumors to the fullest extent of the law, with no leniency. The statement also sternly demands that relevant online platforms immediately fulfill their primary responsibility by taking down, blocking, or limiting the reach of the involved rumors to stop their dissemination.

It is reported that Zhou Zhaocheng is a practicing lawyer at Beijing Anjian Law Firm and has represented clients in several high-profile cases.

On the evening of April 14, Wang Shi's wife, Tian Peijun, reposted Zhou Zhaocheng's Weibo statement, commenting, "We believe in judicial justice."

According to previous reports, on April 12, online rumors about the alleged detention of China Vanke Co.,Ltd. founder Wang Shi sparked heated discussion among netizens.

On the evening of April 12, Tian Peijun posted a refutation, stating, "This is a society governed by law. Do rumor-mongers not need to pay a price?" and "Some matters must be settled by law."

Wang Shi also posted on his Weibo account, stating, "All is well. The rumor-mongers will be dealt with by the law."
