U.S. President Donald Trump is set to conduct the final round of interviews for the next Federal Reserve chair, with four candidates in contention, including National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett and former Federal Reserve Governor Kevin Warsh.
Three senior officials confirmed that Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will interview former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh on Wednesday.
Reports indicate that Hassett remains the leading candidate for the position, though some officials have suggested he may not serve a full term as Fed chair.
Hassett has reportedly proposed to Bessent that he could fill the vacancy after current Fed Chair Jerome Powell's term as governor expires in 2028.
