Regulatory Body Reports 3.9 Trillion Yuan in Insurance Premiums for First Half of the Year, Up 3.2%

On August 14th, the financial regulatory authority released key supervisory indicators for the banking and insurance sectors for the second quarter of 2026.

During the first half of 2026, insurance companies recorded gross written premiums of 3.9 trillion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 3.2%. Claims and benefit payments totaled 1.4 trillion yuan, up 3.8% from the previous year. The number of new policies issued reached 66.8 billion, a significant surge of 27.4% year-on-year.
