Musk's Companies Planning a "Major Merger"? Top Tech Investors and "Big Short" Figures Voice Praise!

Speculation surrounding a "major merger" of Musk's companies has been swirling over the past few days. According to informed sources, Musk is evaluating the possibility of merging SpaceX, Tesla, and xAI, although related discussions are still in the early stages. An internal source indicated that SpaceX is assessing various capital operation plans, including directly acquiring Tesla shares or facilitating a three-way stock swap merger. Neither Musk nor his affiliated companies have issued official statements in response, but Musk himself replied with a suggestive "yeah" to the related rumors on social media platform X. This has sparked discussions among investors about the potential combination of the space, autonomous driving, and artificial intelligence sectors. Gene Munster, a tech venture capitalist and founder of Deepwater Asset Management, commented that this is a classic example of "Elon Musk thinking big." Munster outlined his view on how the situation might develop over the next three years, estimating a 45% probability of Tesla acquiring xAI, a 35% probability of SpaceX acquiring xAI, and a 20% chance that xAI remains independent. "If SpaceX acquires xAI, Tesla would still have access to Grok," he added. Top investor and billionaire Chamath Palihapitiya also expressed admiration for the idea. He stated that a merger of SpaceX and Tesla would immediately create a modern version of Berkshire Hathaway. Even the well-known "Big Short" investor Michael Burry, who has frequently criticized Tesla's valuation in the past, seemed receptive to these rumors. He added, while cautioning that the market had likely already priced the potential merger into the stock price. SpaceX is reportedly considering an IPO around June (close to Musk's birthday), with potential fundraising reaching up to $50 billion, which could make it the largest IPO in history. Its anticipated valuation could reach $1.5 trillion.
