CHINA SOUTH AIR (01055) has disclosed its operational data for April 2026. During the month, the group's passenger capacity, measured in Available Seat Kilometers (ASK), increased by 3.68% year-on-year. This growth was driven by a 12.54% rise in international capacity, while domestic capacity saw a modest increase of 0.33%. Capacity for regional routes declined by 1.47%.
Passenger traffic, measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometers (RPK), grew by 2.83% compared to the same period last year. International RPK led this growth with a 12.20% increase, and regional RPK rose by 1.71%. However, domestic RPK experienced a slight decrease of 0.72%. The overall passenger load factor for April was 84.88%, representing a decrease of 0.70 percentage points year-on-year. The domestic and international load factors fell by 0.90 and 0.26 percentage points, respectively, while the regional load factor improved by 2.59 percentage points.
On the cargo front, freight capacity, measured in Available Freight Ton Kilometers (AFTK), decreased by 2.34% in April 2026. Despite the reduced capacity, cargo traffic, measured in Revenue Freight Ton Kilometers (RFTK), increased by 2.75%. Consequently, the cargo load factor saw significant improvement, rising by 2.68 percentage points to 54.04%.
The group launched several new routes in April 2026, including Hohhot-Chongqing-Bangkok-Chongqing-Hohhot (seven flights weekly), Wuhan-Jakarta-Wuhan (four flights weekly), and Nanjing-Jakarta-Nanjing (three flights weekly).
Regarding its fleet, CHINA SOUTH AIR added three aircraft in April—two B737MAX-8s and one A320NEO. Simultaneously, it retired eight aircraft, comprising three A321s, two B737-700s, two B787-8s, and one B737-800. As of the end of April 2026, the group's total operational fleet consisted of 966 transport aircraft.
