Yu Minhong, founder of New Oriental Education & Technology (NYSE: EDU), has addressed recent controversies surrounding his Antarctica trip via social media. His IP location currently shows Beijing.

Responding to employee criticisms, Yu stated: "I appreciate everyone's concern these days. Encouraging staff feedback is a tradition at New Oriental. If employees have grievances, I and the company will address them promptly. Some online comments falsely claim to be from our staff—I trust the public can discern the truth."

He announced plans to sponsor approximately 10 outstanding junior employees from New Oriental and its subsidiary EAST BUY (HKEX: 01797), along with 10 selected members, for an Antarctica expedition next winter.

Regarding the rumored $148,000 cruise expense, Yu clarified: "Antarctica tour prices vary by vessel and cabin class, ranging from $7,000 to $42,000. The advanced icebreaker Le Commandant Charcot costs $28,000–$35,000, not the exaggerated figure circulating online."
