Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi have discussed the importance of restoring navigation through the Strait of Hormuz during their meeting in Tehran, according to a joint statement released by Iran's foreign ministry.
The statement indicated that both sides deliberated on a phased framework designed to provide a "practical foundation" for future progress.
The proposed framework includes establishing a temporary joint maritime corridor in the Strait of Hormuz, reaching an agreement on a joint mine clearance project in the strait, and setting up mechanisms for information exchange, traffic management, and the provision of related maritime and safety services.
The statement also emphasized the importance of holding joint consultations with countries in the Persian Gulf coastal region, and noted that technical discussions between Iran and Oman will continue.
