Carlyle's Q2 Portfolio Leans on Medical Supplies Giant Medline and Aviation MRO Leader StandardAero, Initiates Position in AI Cloud Upstart Nebius

Medline (MDLN.US) remains the top holding in Carlyle's Q2 portfolio, with 187 million shares valued at approximately $7.379 billion, representing 73.78% of the total portfolio value and unchanged from the previous quarter. Medline is a major distributor and manufacturer of medical-surgical products, offering about 335,000 items across two segments: its own branded products and a supply chain solutions division that distributes third-party medical supplies.

StandardAero (SARO.US) is the second-largest holding, with roughly 84.587 million shares valued at about $2.530 billion, making up 25.30% of the portfolio and also unchanged from the prior quarter. Founded in 1911, StandardAero is a global provider of aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services, focusing on engine aftermarket support for commercial, business, and military aviation.

Phathom Pharmaceuticals (PHAT.US) ranks third, with approximately 3.4968 million shares valued at $37.94 million, accounting for 0.38% of the portfolio and unchanged from the previous quarter. Phathom is a biopharmaceutical company focused on gastrointestinal acid-related diseases, developing potassium-competitive acid blockers (PCABs) like vonoprazan.

Invitation Homes Inc (INVH.US), a U.S. single-family rental real estate company, is the fourth-largest holding, with 662,900 shares valued at $20.0262 million, representing 0.20% of the portfolio and a 0.18% decrease from the prior quarter.

Chinese autonomous driving company Pony AI (PONY.US) is the fifth-largest holding, with approximately 2.3624 million shares valued at $16.419 million, accounting for 0.16% of the portfolio and unchanged from the previous quarter.

In terms of portfolio changes, Carlyle's top five buys in Q2 were SunPower (SPWR.US), Riley Exploration Permian (REPX.US), AI cloud firm Nebius Group NV (NBIS.US), Ramaco Resources (METC.US), and Robinhood Markets (HOOD.US). Among these, Riley Exploration Permian, Nebius, and Ramaco Resources were new positions established in the quarter. The top five sells were CubeSmart (CUBE.US), Q32 Bio (QTTB.US), Heartflow (HTFL.US), Spyre Therapeutics (SYRE.US), and Exicure (XCUR.US). CubeSmart, Exicure, Heartflow, and Spyre Therapeutics were completely exited during the second quarter.
