Deep News06-11

This week, the American retailer Kohl's announced a $1 million donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of America to establish dedicated "Active Play & Wellness Spaces" within Club facilities nationwide. The funds will support facility upgrades at nine Clubs, with projects including building playgrounds, installing turf fields, and creating youth mental health support spaces.

The Chief Marketing Officer of Kohl's stated that both the company and Boys & Girls Clubs share a commitment to helping youth and families across America access the resources and support needed for healthy living. They expressed pride in funding these projects to create spaces where young people can stay active, build confidence, and develop crucial life skills.

This contribution is part of the Kohl's Cares Goods For Good philanthropic program, which donates 100% of its net profit from related merchandise sales to nonprofit organizations supporting American families. Since 2000, the program has raised more than $440 million.

The nine Clubs receiving funding and their respective projects are located across multiple states, with all initiatives expected to be completed this summer. Specific projects include: $150,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Phoenix for installing an outdoor flag football turf field; $200,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta for playground upgrades, improved sports spaces, and adding youth wellness zones at five Club sites; $205,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia for expanding a wellness center to include a fitness center, outdoor recreation area, and meditation garden; $100,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Austin to establish creative spaces for stress management and self-expression at 28 sites; and $105,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of McAllen for installing gym flooring and adding sports equipment.

The Senior Vice President of Youth Development at Boys & Girls Clubs of America noted that Kohl's ongoing investment is helping create spaces where youth can grow stronger physically, emotionally, and socially. These wellness grants will provide Club members with safe, welcoming environments to develop healthy habits that will benefit them for life.

This donation is part of Kohl's longstanding commitment to supporting family health and well-being. In addition to financial support, Kohl's contributes to communities through employee volunteerism. During National Volunteer Month in April 2026, Kohl's associates contributed nearly 3,000 hours of volunteer service.
