Since the start of this year, companies listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange market have ramped up share buybacks and stake increases, using real capital to send a confidence signal to the market.
Among them, two industry leaders 鈥?Midea Group Co.,Ltd. (000333) and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (300750) 鈥?have successively rolled out multi-billion-yuan buyback plans and continued to push them forward, becoming standout highlights in the wave of buybacks and stake increases on the Shenzhen market.
Market participants believe that large-scale buybacks and stake increases by leading companies and major shareholders not only reflect a high degree of recognition of corporate value, but also help stabilize market expectations and boost investor confidence. On October 22, Midea Group Co.,Ltd. (000333) disclosed a progress announcement on its repurchase of A-share shares. The announcement showed that as of October 22, 2026, the company had repurchased a cumulative 11.226 billion yuan (excluding transaction fees) through its dedicated securities repurchase account via centralized bidding transactions.
Previously, on March 30, Midea Group Co.,Ltd. (000333) held the 13th meeting of its fifth board of directors and approved a buyback plan to repurchase some of its issued A-share shares through centralized bidding, with a repurchase price not exceeding 100 yuan per share and a repurchase amount of no more than 13 billion yuan and no less than 6.5 billion yuan. Subsequently, on April 29, the company held a board meeting and changed the purpose of the repurchased shares from "for implementing an equity incentive plan and/or employee stock ownership plan" to "for cancellation in accordance with law to reduce registered capital."
Another leading company, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (300750), released a buyback plan announcement on July 24, proposing to use no more than 40 billion yuan to repurchase company shares for cancellation and reduction of registered capital. According to Wind data, as of now, the company has cumulatively repurchased 5.106 billion yuan.
In addition to the two leaders, Gree Electric Appliances,Inc.Of Zhuhai (000651) also disclosed a buyback plan on April 29, proposing to use no more than 10 billion yuan to repurchase company shares, and as of now has cumulatively repurchased 1.083 billion yuan. The combined upper limit of buyback amounts for the three leading companies exceeds 60 billion yuan.
From the overall perspective of the Shenzhen market, buybacks and stake increases are showing an accelerating and warming trend. According to Wind data, since 2026, Shenzhen market companies have disclosed 341 buyback plans, with an upper limit of 147.26 billion yuan; major shareholders have disclosed 170 stake increase plans, with an upper limit of 22.226 billion yuan. As of October 22, there were 219 ongoing buyback plans on the Shenzhen market, with an upper limit of 114.803 billion yuan; and 91 ongoing stake increase plans, with an upper limit of 14.67 billion yuan.
Market participants believe that listed companies, especially industry leaders, using real capital for buybacks and stake increases demonstrates management's confidence in the company's long-term value on the one hand, and on the other hand, by reducing circulating share capital and canceling registered capital, directly enhances earnings per share, effectively safeguarding the interests of the broad shareholder base, especially small and medium-sized investors.
