DeepSeek server outage lasts 3 hours with no recovery

Deep News10-15

DeepSeek has suffered another large-scale service disruption, with both its web platform and API interface failing simultaneously. The duration of this outage far exceeds previous brief anomalies, highlighting the persistent stability pressures facing this rapidly expanding AI platform.

At around 8:00 AM on October 15, DeepSeek's chat service and DeepSeek V4.1 Flash API service experienced anomalies one after another. As of 11:00 AM, the outage had lasted nearly three hours without recovery. Neither the web platform nor the mobile app could respond to messages normally, with the page displaying a "server temporarily unavailable" notice.

DeepSeek's official service status page showed that the company had updated its progress to "cause identified, fix being implemented," but service had not yet been restored.

The impact of this disruption was not limited to regular users. Developers and downstream applications calling the model through the API interface were also affected, facing request failures and abnormal responses, dealing a direct blow to commercial applications that rely on the service.

Wide-ranging impact affects both developers and regular users

At around 8:00 AM, Android and Apple mobile users all saw an orange retry indicator after sending messages. Switching networks, logging in again, or changing devices could not resolve the issue.

On social platforms, users reported use cases spanning article editing, code writing, and thesis writing, among other needs, demonstrating that this outage caused substantial disruption to daily workflows.

At the developer level, the simultaneous disruption of the DeepSeek V4.1 Flash API service meant that enterprises and developers who had integrated the model into their own products were also unable to call the interface normally, with the potential scope of impact extending beyond end users.

Frequent outages since October, stability issues persist

It is worth noting that this was not DeepSeek's first service disruption in recent times. Since the beginning of October, the platform has recorded multiple service anomalies.

On October 12, DeepSeek experienced two separate outages, one of which affected both the chat service and V4.1 Flash API. On October 8, the platform experienced a service performance degradation lasting about 3 minutes. On October 2, web and API service anomalies lasted approximately 2 hours, involving DeepSeek V4 Pro API, V4.1 Flash API, and the chat service. According to statistics, this is already at least the 18th large-scale anomaly for DeepSeek this year, with the core issue remaining a severe imbalance between computing power supply and demand.

Frequent service interruptions indicate that as user scale and call volumes continue to grow, DeepSeek still faces significant challenges in infrastructure capacity and stability assurance. For enterprise users looking to incorporate it into core business processes, this is a risk factor that cannot be ignored.
