The 2025 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Industry Conference (XAIR) commenced in Guangzhou on December 13. The *Pearl River Delta AIR Index Report (2025)* (hereinafter referred to as the *Report*) revealed that Guangdong Province ranks in the top tier of China’s AI and robotics industry alongside Beijing, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai, securing the highest overall ranking nationwide. The province leads in four core indicators: corporate strength, development potential, industry applications, and industrial linkages.
Guangdong’s AI and robotics sector demonstrates robust growth in both quantity and quality. According to the *Report*, as of November 2025, the province hosts over 3,700 AI and robotics enterprises, including more than 2,000 core AI firms, over 350 national-level "little giant" specialized enterprises, and more than 150 listed companies in the field.
In talent development, over 30 universities in Guangdong have established AI schools, with over 1,700 professionals participating in AI-related professional evaluations in 2025.
From an industrial chain perspective, AI enterprises in Guangdong are predominantly concentrated in the application layer (73%), followed by the technology layer (15%) and foundational layer (12%). The robotics industry is more focused on hardware and core components (48% and 40%, respectively), with system integration accounting for 12%. This distribution reflects Guangdong’s strong manufacturing base and market advantages.
Spatially, Guangdong exhibits significant industrial clustering. As of November 2025, Guangzhou and Shenzhen collectively host 84% of the province’s AI firms and 65% of robotics companies, highlighting a dual-core development model with regional synergy.
From January to October 2025, Guangdong’s core AI industry exceeded 230 billion yuan in scale, while industrial and service robot outputs reached 260,200 units and 12.84 million units, respectively—both ranking first in China.
