Hong Kong Stocks Open: Hang Seng Index Dips 0.04% as Advertising and Personal Care Sectors Gain, Zhipu (02513) Rises 3.67%

On October 5, the Hang Seng Index opened 0.04% lower at 23,963.41 points; the Hang Seng Tech Index fell 0.47% to 4,138.38 points; the State-owned Enterprises Index dropped 0.12% to 8,021.07 points.

In terms of sectors, the advertising and publicity sector rose 3.37%, the personal care sector gained 4.03%, computers and peripheral equipment climbed 1.85%, coal advanced 1.36%, and biotechnology edged up 1.30%; the home appliances sector declined 0.65%, air freight and logistics fell 0.62%, consumer telecommunications equipment and parts dropped 0.55%, and dairy products slipped 0.29%.

Among the Hang Seng Index constituent stocks, WH Group (00288) rose 2.87%, BeiGene (06160) gained 2.17%, and China Resources Mixc Lifestyle Services (01209) added 2.15%, leading the gains. Among the Hang Seng Tech Index constituent stocks, Zhipu (02513) climbed 3.67%, Lenovo Group (00992) rose 1.40%, and Leapmotor (09863) advanced 0.58%, leading the gains.

Of the 95 constituent stocks in the Hang Seng Index, 19 rose, 70 fell, and 6 remained flat; of the 30 constituent stocks in the Hang Seng Tech Index, 5 rose and 25 fell.

Due to the mainland National Day holiday, Southbound Stock Connect trading has been suspended from October 1 to October 7 and will resume on October 8. On the previous trading day (October 2), the Hang Seng Index closed lower, while the three major U.S. stock indices all closed higher overnight on October 2, with the Dow Jones up 0.49%, the Nasdaq up 1.19%, and the S&P 500 up 0.73%.
