HBM Holdings-B (HKEX: 02142) has announced a comprehensive, long-term strategic partnership with Baidu's biotech subsidiary, Baitu Shengke. The collaboration will focus on AI-driven discovery and development of complex large-molecule therapeutics, aiming to systematically overcome key bottlenecks in next-generation innovative therapies and jointly build a globally competitive AI research and development ecosystem.
Under the strategic framework, the two companies will co-found a new AI-driven pipeline development firm targeting the global market, named MegaStream TechBio. MegaStream will integrate exclusive big data, proprietary large-scale AI models, and a substantial portfolio of innovative pipelines. It will establish an AI R&D engine centered on an advanced integrated intelligent dry-wet lab closed-loop experimental discovery platform and personalized, multi-modal, multi-attribute generative AI models.
MegaStream will concentrate on addressing major unmet clinical needs in areas such as cardiovascular disease, kidney disorders, oncology, and anti-aging, with First-in-Class and Best-in-Class assets as its core R&D benchmarks. As the lead founder, HBM Holdings will provide MegaStream with access to its globally unique fully human antibody platforms, deep biological expertise on targets, and global clinical development advantages.
Baitu Shengke will serve as the co-founding partner, contributing foundational AI technology enablement, model engineering support, and intelligent R&D capabilities to accelerate the pipeline development process. The initial pipelines for MegaStream are expected to comprise both existing collaborative AI drug discovery projects and newly established AI-native pipeline development initiatives.
The founding parties will, according to industry norms, be eligible for potential upfront payments, success-based milestone payments, and royalty shares. Furthermore, MegaStream's core management team is anticipated to include seasoned executives from multinational biopharmaceutical companies and top experts in the artificial intelligence field, with appointments currently underway.
Baitu Shengke is a global leader in foundational AI models for life sciences, dedicated to building a new generation of AI infrastructure for the industry to enhance discovery efficiency. The board of HBM Holdings believes this strategic partnership represents a significant deepening of the existing collaboration with Baitu Shengke. It is expected to strengthen the group's AI-empowered discovery engine, expand the application scenarios for its technology platforms, and robustly support its strategy of developing differentiated next-generation complex large-molecule drugs.
