Goldman Sachs Group has named former Citigroup banker Benjamin Ng as the head of Asia-Pacific debt capital markets, according to an internal memo. The newly created role is intended to help expand the firm's financing operations across the region. Based in Hong Kong, Benjamin Ng will oversee Goldman Sachs' bond and loan underwriting and distribution activities. A spokesperson for Goldman Sachs confirmed the contents of the memo. Benjamin Ng previously served as co-head of Asia-Pacific debt capital markets at Citigroup. The move is part of broader leadership changes within Goldman Sachs' capital solutions division, which was established in early 2025 and focuses on identifying debt and financing opportunities for clients. Data shows that although the U.S. investment bank ranks fourth in equity issuance in the Asia-Pacific region this year, it has lagged behind competitors in traditional bond transactions. The memo also revealed that Goldman Sachs has promoted Colin Mathews to head of Asia-Pacific leveraged finance, replacing Nelson Lo, who is set to retire at the end of April.
