Elon Musk's social media platform X (formerly Twitter) will implement a Tesla-style software update strategy to iteratively optimize its recommendation algorithm.
This initiative aims to accelerate feature updates on the social platform while maintaining maximum transparency.
Musk announced on the X platform that the company will roll out a new algorithm used to determine the content of both organic traffic posts and advertised posts recommended to users, with such algorithm updates recurring every four weeks.
"We will open-source the new X platform algorithm within 7 days, including all the code used to determine the recommendation logic for organic and advertised posts. This open-source process will be repeated every 4 weeks thereafter, accompanied by detailed developer notes to help everyone understand the update contents," Musk stated in a post.
This approach bears a strong resemblance to Tesla's over-the-air (OTA) update model—where Tesla regularly optimizes vehicle software and pushes it to users, alongside providing detailed update documentation. This model will enable X platform users to understand the specifics of each algorithm update more clearly, thereby helping to build a positive feedback loop for the platform.
