According to reports, Wang, the person in charge of Lingnan Garden Hotel, admitted that the bathroom door lock was broken. As for the emergency call button in the bathroom, he stated that Mr. Fu and his wife did not press it in the correct position, which was why the alarm system was not triggered. In addition, regarding why hotel staff only arrived at the room after the fire sprinkler system had been spraying water for a long time, he said the hotel could normally locate the room immediately through the smoke detector alarm, but in this case the sprinkler system activated first, making it impossible to quickly identify the room.
On October 19, the involved party, Mr. Fu, told Jiupai News that he did not accept the hotel manager's claim that they pressed the emergency call button in the wrong position. "My wife and I are university graduates and have been working for several years. We pressed that emergency button up, down, left, and right multiple times, and it never triggered the alarm system," he said. Mr. Fu stated that he has now been discharged from the hospital and is recovering at home. After the incident, his one-year-old son often wakes up crying from sleep in the early morning hours. A medical diagnosis certificate from Guangdong Tongjiang Hospital provided by Mr. Fu shows that he was diagnosed with chest contusion, fractures of the left 5th and 6th ribs, abdominal contusion, right wrist sprain, and multiple skin and soft tissue abrasions on his limbs. Mr. Fu said the hotel's proposed solution was to refund that night's room fee and compensate him with 20 times the room fee, totaling 16,000 yuan, which he rejected. Currently, the hotel has paid the medical expenses in advance but has not yet refunded that night's room fee. He stated that he hopes the hotel will pay 150,000 yuan in compensation for mental distress and lost wages, but the two sides have not reached an agreement on the specific compensation amount, and he will consider pursuing legal action to defend his rights. A reporter called Lingnan Garden Hotel, and a staff member said a dedicated person is handling the matter. Jiupai News.
According to Mr. Fu's recollection, on the evening of September 30, his family of three checked into the Lingnan Garden Hotel in Shunde, Foshan, Guangdong. At around 9 p.m., he and his wife were giving their one-year-old baby a bath in the bathroom. After closing the door and finishing the bath, they discovered the door lock was broken, and all three were trapped in the bathroom. Mr. Fu said they did not have their phones with them, and the two of them pressed the emergency call button next to the toilet multiple times, but there was no response. He tried smashing the door with a trash can and ramming it with his bare hands multiple times, but could not escape. He said that worried the child would catch a cold while naked, he turned on the hot water for warmth, but unexpectedly two fire sprinkler heads began spraying water, and the cold high-pressure water hit them. He said that it was not until around 1 a.m. on October 1, when water overflowed from the room and flooded the 19th-floor corridor, that property management staff rescued the three of them.
