Microsoft stated on Thursday that it is investigating a service outage. The incident rendered the Office 365 suite of applications, including the Outlook email service and Teams instant messaging software, unusable throughout the day for users in North America. The company acknowledged that some users were experiencing issues sending and receiving emails via Outlook.
This marks one of the most significant service disruptions for Microsoft since last July, when the Outlook email service suffered a prolonged outage lasting 21 hours.
Microsoft first acknowledged the issue around 1:30 PM Pacific Time. Two hours later, the company indicated that most services had been restored, but users might still experience degraded service performance while the root cause of the failure was being investigated.
