Hong Kong Stock Market Moves | TR Korea (02848) Plunges Over 8% Intraday as Korean Stock Trading Volume Collapses 70% from Peak, Institutions Warn of Excessive Concentration Risk

Stock News10-13

According to Zhitong Finance APP, TR Korea (02848) dropped more than 8% intraday. As of press time, it fell 7.10% to HK$1,628, with a turnover of HK$1.2715 million.

On the news front, the Korean stock market suffered a sharp correction in the third quarter, becoming one of the worst-performing stock markets globally during that period. Entering October, the decline in Korean stocks accelerated. On October 13, the KOSPI index fell more than 7% at one point, with a cumulative monthly decline exceeding 12%. Multiple data points show that trading volume in the Korean stock market has plunged 70% from its June peak, with foreign investors rapidly withdrawing while local retail investors in Korea are also exiting.

DWS, the asset management arm of Deutsche Bank, believes that uncertainty surrounds the AI memory super-cycle, and the Korean market carries excessively high concentration risk. Even after the significant decline, no sufficient margin of safety has been observed. Caution is warranted, and it is advisable to wait for further earnings reports to verify the sustainability of demand before deciding whether to re-enter the Korean stock market.
