Based on its latest forecast, Dida's ride-hailing platform anticipates a notable early start and staggered travel pattern for intercity trips during the upcoming Mid-Autumn and National Day holidays, driven by the popular "take 3 days off, get 13 days of leave" extend-your-break strategy.
According to the prediction, two peaks in ride orders will occur across the combined holiday period, though the booking rhythms for city-based and intercity trips differ significantly. City tourism order volumes will maintain a prolonged peak, while intercity travel orders will concentrate into sharper bursts, both landing on the day before the respective holidays—September 24 and September 30—highlighting a clear preference for departing the night prior.
Looking at daily departure trends, intercity travel volumes are expected to remain elevated from September 24 and stay high through October 7, including the three working days from September 28 to 30. This timing aligns closely with the extended-leave arrangement, implying that some travelers may push their holiday trips earlier to maximize their break.
Using big-data projections, the platform lists the top ten most popular intercity ride-hailing destinations for the National Day holiday as Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Dongguan, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Beijing, Foshan, Hangzhou, and Suzhou. Among the top 30 cities, nine are located in Guangdong Province, four in Jiangsu Province, and three in Zhejiang Province.
In addition, lesser-known "hidden gem" towns beyond traditional tourist hotspots are emerging as new growth points for the holiday. The top ten cities by growth in ride-hailing trip orders are Wuwei, Chenzhou, Heyuan, Hainan Prefecture, Huizhou, Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Fuzhou, Nanchang, Xiaogan, and Jilin.
For this National Day holiday, red tourism sites (revolutionary heritage attractions) represent a key category for ride-hailing trips. Among the top 30 red scenic spots, eight are expected to be in Beijing, including Tiananmen Square, Lugou Bridge, and the Old Summer Palace Ruins Park. Multiple attractions in Nanjing, Shanghai, and Zunyi also made the list, such as Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum in Nanjing, the Shanghai World Expo Park, and the Red Army Street in Zunyi.
As a personalized travel option, Dida's ride-hailing service enhances ride certainty by allowing passengers and drivers to communicate needs through pre-trip notes and instant messaging. According to the forecast, the top five note categories for ride-hailing trip orders during this National Day holiday are cost-sharing arrangements, luggage requiring the trunk, traveling with children or infants, catching flights or trains, and carrying pets, with respective order shares of 87.5%, 6.8%, 3.3%, 1.0%, and 0.7%.
