At the peak of summer, the corn seed production fields in Liao Yan Village, Mingyong Town, Ganzhou District, are entering their critical flowering and management phase. The village's smart corn seed demonstration base is lush and vibrant.
Agricultural technicians are working in the fields to inspect the growth of seed corn, providing on-site guidance on modern agricultural techniques such as improved variety cultivation and precision water and fertilizer management.
In recent years, Liao Yan Village has developed a large-scale, smart seed production base. It has adopted new technologies like integrated drip irrigation and field IoT monitoring systems. By implementing standardized seed production processes, the village has continuously improved seed quality, strengthening the corn seed industry as a key local specialty, and empowering comprehensive rural revitalization through superior seed varieties.
Since last year, the village has invested 17 million yuan to build a 4,650-acre smart corn seed base. This project includes supporting digital water-saving facilities, constructing three new reservoir ponds, replacing irrigation water sources, and closing 15 wells. These measures have reduced annual groundwater extraction by 1.76 million cubic meters, using smart water-saving techniques to power modern agriculture.
Transforming from "relying on rainfall" to "smart, high-yield farming," and from traditional cultivation to technology-driven agriculture, the corn seed base in Liao Yan Village now showcases orderly fields, a dense network of pipes, intelligent equipment, and meticulous management. This paints a vivid picture of modern, efficient, green, water-conserving, stable, and high-quality agricultural development. (Source: New Gansu Client) (Editor: Wang Xuexiang, Proofreader: Qi Qing)
