The three major listed pig farming companies, Muyuan Foods Group Co.,Ltd. (002714.SZ), New Hope Liuhe Co.,Ltd. (000876.SZ), and Wens Foodstuff Group Co.,Ltd. (300498.SZ), have recently disclosed their hog sales data for May 2026.

In terms of sales volume, Muyuan and Wens saw a month-on-month decrease, while New Hope recorded an increase. On a year-on-year basis, Muyuan and New Hope reported growth in sales volume, whereas Wens experienced a decline.

Specifically, Muyuan sold 6.883 million commercial hogs in May, a decrease of 3.6% month-on-month but an increase of 7.43% year-on-year. Wens sold 2.6527 million meat pigs (including live hogs and fresh products), down 18.15% from April and 15.93% from May 2025. New Hope sold 1.2334 million commercial hogs, up 1.94% month-on-month and 23.98% year-on-year.

Regarding sales revenue, Muyuan and New Hope saw month-on-month increases in commercial hog sales revenue, while Wens saw a decrease. Year-on-year, all three companies reported significant declines in their hog product sales revenue.

Muyuan's commercial hog sales revenue for May was 8.565 billion yuan, up 0.7% month-on-month but down 30.13% year-on-year. Wens reported meat pig sales revenue of 3.24 billion yuan, a decrease of 16.06% month-on-month and 39.13% year-on-year. New Hope's commercial hog sales revenue reached 1.386 billion yuan, increasing 5.68% from April but falling 20.1% compared to May 2025.

Muyuan attributed the significant year-on-year decline in both selling price and revenue to fluctuations in the hog market. Wens stated that the year-on-year drop in its May meat pig revenue was primarily due to decreases in both the volume of live hogs sold and the average selling price.

As for the average selling price, all three companies reported month-on-month increases but substantial year-on-year declines exceeding 30%.

Muyuan's average commercial hog selling price in May was 9.8 yuan per kilogram, up 3.7% month-on-month but down 32.51% year-on-year. Wens' average live hog selling price was 9.7 yuan per kilogram, a 4.64% increase from April but a 33.92% decrease from the same period last year. New Hope's average commercial hog selling price was 9.48 yuan per kilogram, rising 3.61% month-on-month but falling 35.02% year-on-year.

Wens indicated that the year-on-year decline in its average live hog selling price was mainly influenced by changes in the domestic hog market conditions. New Hope cited market oversupply as the reason for the significant year-on-year change in its commercial hog selling price.
