South Korea's benchmark index drops nearly 5%, with Samsung Electronics and SK hynix both falling over 5%; Japan's Nikkei 225 loses more than 1%

On the 3rd, the South Korean stock market opened lower and continued its decline. As of the time of writing, the KOSPI index had fallen 4.7% to 6,282.81 points.

Both Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and SK hynix fell more than 5%. Meanwhile, Japan's Nikkei 225 index widened its losses, dropping 1.37% as of the time of writing.

Shares of SoftBank Group fell 3%, while Kioxia shares slid more than 4%.
