United Kingdom Secures Third Place in Global Bitcoin Adoption, but 60,000 Seized Coins Remain Out of Official Reserves

According to data from Woofun AI, the United Kingdom ranks third globally in Bitcoin adoption, yet its holdings of 60,000 BTC cannot be converted into national reserve assets due to a court ruling, creating a stark contrast between its high ranking and the dilemma of asset disposal.

This ranking is based on the B20 Country Assessment released by the JAN3 Bitcoin Index in 2025, with core criteria including policy advancement and over 60,000 BTC seized by law enforcement agencies. However, these assets are legally defined as stolen criminal property requiring court proceedings, not sovereign wealth.

Woofun AI compiled data shows that the index comprehensively evaluates multiple factors such as regulation, market access, and law enforcement seizures, resulting in a composite score of 6.44 points for the United Kingdom.

The U.S. Treasury Department explicitly responded in March 2026 that the central government holds no cryptocurrency assets. This indicates that although the UK possesses a substantial amount of BTC at the enforcement level, its outdated official foreign exchange reserve policies operate in a completely different category from these seized assets, preventing their inclusion in the national balance sheet.
