On September 23, following yesterday's appearance of Xiaomi 17 series benchmark scores, numerous test results have emerged in the Geekbench database, continuously pushing performance limits higher. The latest peak scores have been recorded at 3,812 for single-core and 11,993 for multi-core performance.
Notably, due to iPhone 17 leak revelations, iPhone 16 prices have been declining steadily. The iPhone 16 has reportedly reached a transaction price of just 239 yuan in recent promotional activities, marking a new low since the device's market launch.
For comparison, the current strongest benchmark performance for the iPhone 17 Pro series stands at 4,019 for single-core and 11,054 for multi-core. After generations of catch-up efforts, Apple's A-series processors have gradually been matched and now even surpassed, losing their once-dominant position as the industry's strongest performers.
Reports suggest that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5's benchmark performance can be pushed even further, potentially achieving single-core scores exceeding 4,000 and multi-core scores surpassing 12,000, which would decisively outperform the A19 Pro.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 features a proprietary Oryon CPU with a "2+6" all-big-core architecture. It includes 2 Oryon v2 ultra-large cores running at up to 4.61GHz and 6 large cores maintaining 3.63GHz high frequency. The chip integrates an Adreno 840 GPU with independent GPU cache upgraded to 16MB, while the combined L2+L3 cache has been increased from 24MB to 32MB.
This processor will debut with the Xiaomi 17 series, officially launching next week with a certain period of exclusivity. The second device to feature this chip won't arrive until after the National Day holiday.
It's worth noting that the iPhone 17 series will go on sale this Friday, while the Xiaomi 17 series is expected to launch simultaneously with its announcement, directly competing head-to-head with the iPhone 17 series as the only flagship device engaging in direct competition with Apple.
