Duan Yongping has donated 10,000 shares of Kweichow Moutai Co.,Ltd. to support educational development in Anfu County, Jiangxi Province.

The donation ceremony for the "Anfu County Duan Yongping Education Special Fund" was successfully held in Nanchang on May 26. Duan Yongping, a well-known entrepreneur and investor, made the donation of his Kweichow Moutai shares to the Anfu County Charity Association.

Unlike typical cash donations, this contribution utilizes a "perpetual fund" model. The 10,000 Kweichow Moutai shares serve as the principal, which is locked in long-term. Only the annual dividends and derived earnings from these shares will be used as expendable funds. These funds are specifically designated for rewarding teaching excellence, providing scholarships, and supporting student development. The aim is to establish a sustainable mechanism of "one-time donation, perpetual benefit" to provide a continuous source of support for the high-quality development of education in Anfu.

Duan Yongping was born on March 10, 1961, in Nanchang. During his childhood, his father was reassigned, and the young Duan followed, settling in the villages and fields of Anfu County. He has spoken about this period in interviews, avoiding a simplistic "inspiring" narrative and instead recalling specific, scattered memories. His time in the Pingdu Commune's Shili Brigade remains deeply etched in his memory.

It is worth noting that this donation was executed on Duan Yongping's behalf by his elder brother, Duan Liping. Duan Liping, four years older, holds a doctorate from Hohai University and previously taught at Nanchang Institute of Technology. The brothers' names reflect their father Duan Ximing's thoughtful intention—"Liping" means "striving for peace," and "Yongping" means "eternal peace." Having grown up together in Anfu's fields, the brothers jointly funded the paving of the village road for Pengtang Group in Shili Village, Pingdu Town, in 2012. This road is affectionately called the "Pingping Road" by local residents, named after the two brothers.

Duan Yongping gained fame for his successful investment in NetEase. He later made significant investments in Apple, Kweichow Moutai, and Tencent, which he has held to this day. In 2006, he made headlines by spending $620,000 to become the first Chinese person to win the charity auction for a lunch with Warren Buffett. Furthermore, Duan Yongping is a renowned entrepreneur, having founded the well-known brands "Xiao Ba Wang" and "BBK." He later served as Chairman of the BBK Group. Under his influence, executives from the BBK ecosystem went on to establish the major mobile phone brands Vivo and OPPO, as well as the logistics brand J&T Express.

During trading on May 29, Kweichow Moutai's stock price rose by over 4% at one point, reaching a high of 1,329 yuan per share. The value of the 10,000 shares donated by Duan Yongping exceeded 13 million yuan.
