Supply Chain Strains and Rising Costs Drive Qualcomm to Announce Double-Digit Price Hikes

Deep News07-25 01:11

Multiple sources report that Qualcomm, the US chip manufacturer, has sent a formal notification letter to clients, announcing a double-digit percentage price increase on all relevant shipping products effective September 1, driven by the ongoing global supply chain shortage and a sharp rise in upstream component costs.

In its notification, Qualcomm stated that the pressure from rising costs at the supplier level continues to intensify, and the company can no longer absorb these premiums on its own. Although Qualcomm had previously attempted to actively expand new channels to find alternative components, the overall industry environment has ultimately forced the company to adjust product pricing to counter the cost impact.

The global technology industry is currently facing a severe supply chain shortage crisis. This widespread capacity and supply bottleneck has not only severely impacted the smartphone supply chain but has also fully extended to other related sectors, including supercomputing and automotive manufacturing.
