Wenxin App to Add Social Features? Baidu Insider: No Intention to Replace WeChat

According to recent information, Wenxin App is set to launch a redesigned interface with a new "multi-person, multi-Agent group chat" feature, aiming to enhance user interaction through more social and human-like engagement. The group chat function is currently in internal testing.

The upcoming group chat feature in Wenxin App will allow users to engage multiple AI characters within a single chat, suitable for scenarios such as workplace brainstorming, office collaboration, family life coordination, and fun interactions. The AI can understand the context of the group conversation, recognize members' intentions, accurately judge the right moment to intervene based on the discussion atmosphere, and respond proactively.

In discussions with media outlets, a Baidu insider stated: "We have not actually considered creating a WeChat or replacing WeChat; it's not currently under consideration, and I believe everyone also feels this is unrealistic. We are approaching this from the perspective of needs and tasks themselves. If users have specific tasks, such as family health management, group assignments, travel planning, or particularly complex decision-making, we hope to provide a platform where they can collaborate with colleagues and friends using AI capabilities to better accomplish their tasks."
