PetroChina Semi-Annual Report Contains Multiple Disclosure Oversights: Missing Job Title, Misstated Tax Rate, Template Copying Flaws

Deep News10-10

Recently, several listed companies have drawn market attention after their semi-annual reports were found to contain basic typographical errors. An AI review by Sina Finance's Zhima AI found that the large oil and gas state-owned enterprise Petrochina Company Limited (601857.SH/00857.HK) had multiple textual and numerical oversights in its 2026 semi-annual report, covering corporate governance, section citations, tax rates, and business policy descriptions.

Missing word in job title, incomplete sentence structure. On page 1, the phrase "independent non-executive Ms. Liu Xiaolei" appears. The job title is missing the word "director," leaving the sentence grammatically incomplete; the full correct form should be "independent non-executive director Ms. Liu Xiaolei."

Redundant word, awkward grammar. On page 37, the original text reads "except as described in the 'Bond-Related Information' chapter of this semi-annual report." The standard expression should delete the redundant "the" and read "except as described in the 'Bond-Related Information' chapter of this semi-annual report."

Misstated number in tax table, corporate income tax rate clearly violates tax law. On page 81, in the table of major taxes and rates, the corporate income tax line is filled in as 15% to 82%. Under China's current tax law, the benchmark statutory corporate income tax rate is 25%, and 82% is not a legally valid tax rate range, making this a likely misprint involving similarly shaped numbers; the reasonable expression should be 15% to 25%.

The above issues appear in formal disclosure sections including corporate governance, important matters, and accounting policy notes. No misstatement of financial data derived from these issues has been found so far, but as periodic reports are statutory disclosure documents aimed at a broad base of investors, the accuracy of basic expressions in job titles, tax rates, section citations, and policy texts still deserves attention.
