As the winter sun of 2025 shone on the greenhouses of Bihaiyuan High-Efficiency Facility Agricultural Base in Tongzhou District, clusters of plump and vibrant tomatoes—bearing the fruits of suburban farmers’ year-round labor—reached nationwide audiences through livestreaming. Recently, the Beijing Branded Agricultural Product Traceability Livestream event, themed "Millennial Canal Nurtures Innovation, Tomatoes Carry Ancient Traditions," concluded successfully here.
As the 13th and final installment of this year’s traceability livestream series, the event injected new vitality into the "Beijing Premium Agriculture" brand-building and rural revitalization efforts.
Organized under the guidance of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Landscape and Forestry Bureau, and the Commerce Bureau, the event was hosted by the Beijing Digital Agriculture and Rural Development Promotion Center and the Tongzhou District Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, with support from Beijing Post and livestreaming teams from 16 district-level postal branches.
Coinciding with the booming livestream e-commerce market for agricultural products—now approaching trillion-scale—the event deepened the integration of digital technology and agricultural industries through a "government-guided, enterprise-led, farmer-participating" model. Building on the year’s successful traceability livestreaming mechanism, the finale achieved upgrades in both format and content.
The livestream innovatively adopted a "main venue exploration + 16 district satellite venues" matrix, breaking away from traditional single-product promotion formats. Beijing Post’s brand ambassador Chen Xi and Bihaiyuan’s manager Chen Yang co-hosted the livestream, taking viewers inside the greenhouses. From real-time smart sensor data on temperature and humidity to blockchain-backed planting records and meticulous management practices like manual flower thinning and physical pest control, the event showcased "tomatoes grown with technology."
An interactive "one-click traceability" feature allowed viewers to scan QR codes on-screen to access full-process details, including variety selection, cultivation, and quality reports. Coupled with flash sales, discounts, and prize draws, the livestream blended professionalism with engagement.
The finale delivered impressive results: by 4 PM, cumulative viewership across 19 livestream rooms reached 103,500, generating sales of 615,300 yuan, marking a successful conclusion to Beijing’s 2025 traceability livestream series.
Throughout the year, the 13-event series spanned all seasons, establishing a sustainable "monthly livestream, district-by-district highlights" model to support farmers. Each event linked 19 livestream rooms across districts, promoting seasonal "Beijing Premium Agriculture" products like Daxing watermelons, Pinggu peaches, "Jinsu Fengrun" grapes, "Thumbelina" kiwiberries, "Doudian Probiotic" beef, "Tianpu Manor" grape vinegar, "Old Chestnut Tree" chestnuts, "Beiliu Orchard" apples, "Maohoushou Fujianxi" pears, and Bihaiyuan tomatoes.
This model not only bridged the "last mile" for premium agricultural products but also bolstered the "Beijing Premium Agriculture" brand reputation, driving rising repurchase rates, product premiumization, and tangible income growth for farmers.
The event’s success exemplifies Beijing’s innovative "government + enterprise + rural e-commerce" tripartite collaboration, offering a replicable model for digital-agriculture integration. Moving forward, organizers will refine rural e-commerce networks, strengthen regional brand cultivation, and advance digital empowerment for comprehensive rural revitalization—helping more premium Beijing agricultural products reach national markets and collectively writing a new chapter of agricultural strength, rural beauty, and farmer prosperity.
