China Mobile to Roll Out Major Traditional Call Upgrades Starting June, Featuring Intelligent Services Like Call Captions at No Extra Cost

Deep News06-16

China Mobile has announced a significant enhancement to its traditional voice call services, pledging to provide users with "high-definition, intelligent, and secure" upgraded calling features at no additional charge. Users will be able to access a suite of smart services directly during calls after a free upgrade, with the ability to toggle these functions on or off as desired.

According to the company's announcement, the upgraded call service will be progressively rolled out to China Mobile subscribers starting in June 2026, though the specific timing for each province will vary based on network upgrade progress. The new features set to be introduced include call captions, a visual call menu, 1080p high-definition video calls, AI-powered fraud prevention, multi-party calling, DC functionality, and noise reduction calling for certain users. The actual performance and availability of these services may be influenced by network conditions, device compatibility, and the calling environment.

To access the upgrade, users will need to open the China Mobile app, search for "call upgrade service," navigate to the upgrade page, and click "Upgrade Now." They will then follow the prompts to complete identity verification and activate the service. Once successfully upgraded, new function entry points will automatically appear on the call interface, allowing users to enable or disable the various smart services within the settings menu.
