Tencent Executes HK$300.28 Million Buyback; 2.69 Million Shares Pending Cancellation

Tencent Holdings Limited reported that it repurchased 662,000 ordinary shares on 20 August 2026 via on-exchange transactions at prices ranging between HK$449.00 and HK$457.20 per share, for a total consideration of HK$300.28 million. The shares are to be cancelled, and no treasury shares are being retained.

Including this latest transaction, Tencent has repurchased 2.69 million shares between 17–20 August 2026 at volume-weighted average prices of roughly HK$446.70 per share, equivalent to an aggregate outlay of about HK$1.20 billion. The four-day repurchases represent approximately 0.03% of the company’s 9.10 billion issued shares.

Under the general mandate approved on 13 May 2026, Tencent is authorised to buy back up to 911.80 million shares. To date, 38.76 million shares—around 0.43% of the issued share capital at the mandate date—have been repurchased on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Following the latest transactions, Tencent’s issued share capital remains unchanged at 9.10 billion shares, as the repurchased shares have not yet been cancelled. In accordance with Hong Kong listing rules, the company is subject to a moratorium on issuing new shares or selling any treasury shares until 19 September 2026.
