Winter sunlight bathes the red rubber running track, while elderly residents stroll leisurely across green lawns under clear blue skies, and children gleefully play on slides under their guardians’ watch—these are scenes from the newly renovated Dainan Farmers' Square in Dongbei Village. Grandpa Zhang, playing with his grandson at the square, remarked how unrecognizable the area was just three months ago, when it was overgrown with weeds and littered with garbage.
In October 2025, following directives from the Xinghua Municipal Committee, the Third Inspection Team conducted routine inspections in Dainan Town. During grassroots visits, residents highlighted that while the town had made significant improvements to roads, bridges, and public infrastructure in the main urban area, "micro parks" and "micro attractions" in suburban and remote villages had been neglected. Issues included damaged fitness equipment and poor sanitation, with the former Dongbei Farmers' Park cited as an example. The town promptly organized relevant departments to conduct comprehensive surveys and formulate solutions.
Dainan Town systematically addressed problems in these "micro attractions" through targeted initiatives. The Dongbei Farmers' Park, originally built in 2008 and spanning over 20,000 square meters, had deteriorated due to years of disrepair. The town revitalized the space into a fully functional square, replacing broken surfaces with rubber paving, planting camphor and osmanthus trees, laying fresh turf, and installing fitness equipment, benches, and shaded areas. At night, soft lighting outlines the square, creating a warm ambiance. Similarly, Maoshan North Village refurbished the wooden walkways of its "Riverside Park" with bright red paint, adorned nearby walls with murals depicting rural life, and added new fitness facilities.
The town leveraged existing resources to tailor "micro parks" to local conditions. In Geyou Village, five unevenly tall camphor trees were pruned into a giant "green umbrella," becoming a popular summer retreat. Maoshan Village repurposed a century-old elm tree and cleared former pigpen sites to build a pavilion, integrating it with neighboring vegetable plots to form a unique "Vegetable Park."
Dainan Town also launched a "Weekend Volunteer Labor" initiative for Party members and officials to enhance these spaces. In Liuji Village, volunteers repaired fitness equipment and replaced artificial turf, creating a safer, more comfortable environment. Zhang Renfu, an 89-year-old Korean War veteran, praised the diverse exercise options available. Guangxiao Village’s volunteer team regularly cleaned neglected corners and maintained water features, transforming pavilions and arched bridges into picturesque landmarks.
During the inspection period, Dainan Town renovated 11 "micro parks," ensuring these small-scale attractions became cherished community spaces.
