Chord Energy Corp (CHRD) shares plummeted 5.18% intraday on Wednesday, following the release of its second-quarter 2026 financial results which revealed an earnings miss.
The company reported adjusted earnings per share of $6.44, falling short of the Ibes consensus estimate of $6.56. Despite strong operational performance with oil volumes at the high end of guidance and capital expenditures below the midpoint, the bottom-line miss appeared to weigh on investor sentiment.
Chord also declared a base dividend of $1.30 per share and updated its 2026 outlook, but the market reacted negatively to the earnings shortfall, driving the stock sharply lower during the session.
