Longyuan Power's Proposal Successfully Selected for Key Engineering Challenges

Deep News18:11

The Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering has recently released a list of major challenges and difficult problems in the power sector for 2026. A proposal submitted by Longyuan Power's engineering technology subsidiary, titled "Technology for Flexible Green Micro-Energy Networks with Electricity-Hydrogen Coupling in Desert-Gobi-Wasteland Renewable Energy Bases," has been successfully selected in the engineering technical challenges category. The selection process for major challenges and difficult problems organized by the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering received a total of 167 submissions from power generation companies, grid enterprises, and other stakeholders in the power sector. After multiple rounds of rigorous evaluation, 10 system-level and 10 equipment-level major challenges were selected, focusing on key areas such as future energy systems, electricity-hydrogen coupling, and energy and power security. The project stood out among numerous submissions due to its forward-looking technical direction, solid research foundation, and clear practical value, earning high recognition from the review experts. Addressing issues such as insufficient transmission capacity for large-scale renewable bases, lack of system peak-shaving resources, and low grid short-circuit ratios, which lead to wind and solar curtailment, clean energy waste, and operational losses in transmission and distribution networks, Longyuan Power's proposal tackles the core of these challenges. The proposed flexible green micro-energy network system, which integrates electricity-hydrogen storage coupling, features adaptive smooth switching control, multi-cell flexible collaborative regulation for hydrogen production, and long-term source-load optimization matching capabilities, including Carnot battery and new transmission technologies. This system is expected to provide a solution for overcoming the engineering challenges of achieving large-scale, high-proportion, and economically viable integration of renewable energy in desert-gobi-wasteland bases. As a core platform for new energy business and a main force in technological innovation under China Energy Investment Corporation, Longyuan Power will seize the opportunity presented by the selection of this proposal to actively advance technology research and development and project implementation. The company aims to establish a closed-loop process of "industry posing questions—enterprises selecting topics—technology providing answers—market evaluating results," driving high-quality development in the energy and power industry through deep integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation.
