The core artificial intelligence industry in Guangdong Province has officially exceeded the 300 billion yuan mark in scale, according to announcements made during an event focused on digital transformation.

This significant milestone was revealed at the "AI Empowering SME Digital and Intelligent Transformation" event, jointly organized by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology and the Guangdong Communications Administration, held on September 4th in Guangzhou.

The event served as a key component of the 21st China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair. Provincial authorities have positioned small and medium-sized enterprises as the primary drivers of digital transformation within the manufacturing sector.

Guangdong is pioneering an innovative shift from isolated approaches to comprehensive chain-based upgrades. The strategy involves tailored policies to support large enterprises in establishing transformation benchmarks, facilitate digital adoption among SMEs, and promote efficient collaboration across industry supply chains.

To date, Guangdong has developed more than 400 "lighthouse" benchmark projects, including 5G factories, ranking among the top provinces nationwide. The region has also driven digital transformation through chain-based models across 40 specific industries, benefiting over 5,000 SMEs.

These initiatives have collectively stimulated digital transformation efforts for more than 55,000 industrial enterprises above designated size, with key digitalization metrics for major companies maintaining a leading position across the country.

Additionally, Guangdong is leveraging artificial intelligence to substantially enhance the quality and efficiency of SMEs, accelerating the upgrade of key industries. The province has cultivated a series of industrial large models and released application scenarios for ten major sectors.

Innovation platforms such as the "1+1+N" embodied intelligence training grounds have been established, alongside high-standard construction of the National AI Application Pilot Base (oriented toward consumer mobile terminals).

Guangdong has now cultivated 22 national-level excellent intelligent factories and 383 provincial-level advanced intelligent factories. The event also unveiled the "Guangdong Province SME Digital Transformation Pilot City Long-term Mechanism Achievement List."

A new version of the province's manufacturing digital transformation public service platform was launched, with the National AI Application Pilot Base showcasing a range of practical AI-enabled achievements for SMEs during the concurrent exhibition.

The exhibition featured dedicated zones for AI-enabled applications, smart terminal interactive experiences, and digital transformation outcomes, highlighting the latest technologies, products, and services driving AI integration across diverse industries.
