Recently, the Intellectual Property Office of Qitaihe City in Heilongjiang Province collaborated with the Municipal Publicity Department, the Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau, the Municipal Supply and Marketing Cooperative, and the Xinxing Branch of the Municipal Market Supervision Administration to jointly host the 2026 "Fragrant Books, Reading for All" National Reading and Intellectual Property Copyright Protection Awareness Week event in Xinxing District. The event closely followed the theme of "Strengthening Copyright Protection in Emerging Fields and Accelerating the Development of New Quality Productive Forces." Coinciding with the formal implementation of the "Regulations on Promoting National Reading" and the launch of the first national "National Reading Activity Week," the event deeply integrated the promotion of national reading with legal awareness campaigns on intellectual property. It aimed to popularize copyright protection knowledge among the general public and foster a strong social atmosphere of respecting originality, advocating innovation, and resisting piracy.
The event featured numerous highlights and engaging formats. Street representatives issued an initiative for national reading and copyright protection on-site, calling on citizens to read more, read good books, and read wisely, while consciously respecting and safeguarding intellectual property. A cultural performance creatively combined legal awareness promotion with artistic displays. The "Three-and-a-Half Sentences" skit "Promoting Copyright Protection" was easy to understand and catchy, popularizing copyright protection concepts in a form beloved by the public. The song and dance performance "Our Chinese Dream" featured an uplifting melody that inspired motivation, vividly conveying the spirit of innovation and creation of the times. Staff from the Municipal Intellectual Property Office and the Xinxing Branch of the Market Supervision Administration distributed promotional materials and provided policy consultation services at the event. They focused on popularizing the "Heilongjiang Province Intellectual Property Protection Regulations" and related laws and regulations concerning trademarks and patents, guiding the public to establish a legal mindset that respects knowledge, integrity, and lawfulness.
The special public welfare activities were heartwarming. A "Books for Vegetables" charity initiative was conducted simultaneously. Kindergarten children and citizens enthusiastically donated idle extracurricular books, exchanging the fragrance of books for fresh fruits and vegetables, experiencing the value and power of knowledge through interactive practice. The donated books will be sorted and used to enrich community bookrooms, achieving a triple benefit of promoting reading, recycling resources, and serving public welfare, allowing the concept of intellectual property protection to enter thousands of households along with the fragrance of books.
Moving forward, the Qitaihe City Intellectual Property Office will use this awareness week as an opportunity to continuously deepen the whole-chain protection of intellectual property. It will coordinate special publicity and enforcement actions in areas such as patents and trademarks, promoting intellectual property protection efforts into enterprises, communities, schools, and online spaces. The office will continue to improve cross-departmental collaborative protection mechanisms, strengthen copyright governance in emerging fields, use the rule of law to safeguard innovation and creation, and inject strong momentum into the city's high-quality development and the cultivation of new quality productive forces.
