Private equity real estate investment firm Brookwood Financial Partners, LLC has announced that Yesway, Inc. (NASDAQ: YSWY), a convenience store operator it conceived, founded, funded, and developed, completed its public offering and began trading on the Nasdaq Global Select Market on April 21, 2026.
This milestone represents a significant achievement for Brookwood's differentiated investment strategy. The firm is one of the few private equity platforms in the U.S. capable of internally conceiving, launching, and building a major consumer retail enterprise. Brookwood established Yesway in 2015 with the goal of creating a scaled, premier convenience store platform in Midwestern and Southwestern U.S. communities. Through strategic acquisitions, new store development, operational investments, and brand building, that initial investment concept has evolved into a large, integrated retail operating company.
Following the listing, Yesway reported strong first-quarter results. As of March 31, 2026, the company operates 449 stores, making it the 15th largest convenience store operator in the United States. For the quarter, adjusted EBITDA grew 112.9% year-over-year to $59.2 million, and net income turned positive to $30.2 million from a net loss of $5.6 million in the prior-year period. Looking ahead to fiscal 2026, Yesway anticipates adjusted EBITDA in the range of $210 million to $220 million and plans to open 6 to 8 new stores.
Thomas N. Trkla, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Brookwood, stated that Yesway's evolution from a Brookwood platform to a public company validates the firm's original investment vision and the execution capabilities of the Yesway management team and employees. He emphasized that it is exceptionally rare for a private real estate investment firm to nurture a consumer retail business from inception to a successful public listing, and Yesway's accomplishment fully demonstrates Brookwood's unique, hands-on investment philosophy.
Headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, Yesway is known for its food service, extensive merchandise selection, and private-label products, including the famous Allsup's deep-fried burritos. Through ongoing strategic acquisitions, new store development, and a commitment to customer satisfaction, Yesway continues to strengthen its position as a leading convenience store retailer in the U.S.
