The section titled "Ode to Heroes: Beiqiao in the Flames of War" focuses on the "Jiangnan Anti-Japanese Force," using historical artifacts, photographs, restored equipment, and models to recreate the heroic era when the people of Beiqiao fought valiantly. "Red Legacy: The Torch Passed On" systematically illustrates the development of the People's Liberation Army and the Chinese Militia, making the journey of military strengthening tangible. "Inheriting the Military Spirit: The Path to a Strong Military" looks at the present and future, vividly popularizing knowledge about national defense mobilization and civil air defense. The center showcases 92 exemplary figures and 12,288 characters of documentary materials, narrating both history and contemporary local stories.
Why was this education center established here? It serves as a vivid example of Beiqiao Subdistrict's efforts to deeply integrate grassroots armed forces work with dual-support initiatives for the military and their families. "In recent years, we have focused on promoting interconnected development between armed forces work and ex-servicemen services, allowing national defense construction and military support to reinforce each other and progress together," explained You Xiaobin, an official from the Beiqiao Subdistrict People's Armed Forces Department. The subdistrict has specifically developed a 600-square-meter comprehensive service complex. On one hand, this facility upgrades the armed forces' "three rooms, one warehouse" standard, fully equipping it with combat-ready supplies and training gear. On the other hand, it scientifically allocates functional areas for ex-servicemen services, including a service hall, a veterans' studio, and a legal aid room, enabling service members to handle matters efficiently through a single point of entry.
With the infrastructure in place, the core mission of armed forces work is pursued with equal rigor. In recent years, Beiqiao Subdistrict has consistently mobilized over 100 individuals annually for district-level conscription examinations, with the number passing both physical and political reviews maintaining a two-digit figure, all while achieving a record of zero rejected conscripts. Furthermore, addressing practical challenges such as an aging population and a shrinking registered resident base, the subdistrict has innovatively implemented a "Four-Database Development" system for conscription. This approach expands the scope for identifying potential recruits, conducts dynamic screenings to uncover potential, and employs detailed analysis to ensure quality, enabling "one-to-one" management.
Militia reorganization is also conducted substantively. Centering on the specialization and combat readiness of militia units, Beiqiao Subdistrict carries out precise potential surveys, strictly implements organizational requirements, emphasizes improving the rate of professional alignment, and optimizes force structure. The subdistrict has organized participation in city-wide militia battalion/company commander training sessions, general engineering repair and construction company base rotation training, and related exercises, earning accolades including first place in individual performance at a city-wide militia battalion/company commander training event.

Since 2025, over 200 deployments of core militia personnel have been mobilized to fulfill tasks such as combat readiness duty, security patrols, and flood and typhoon prevention, tangibly ensuring local safety. Building on this, a long-term partnership has been established with the First Squadron of the Huangdai Armed Police, creating a "two-way list" of military and civilian needs. This fosters a positive cycle where local communities support the military and the military serves the community, generating powerful synergy for high-quality development.

Leveraging the "All-in-One Social Worker Service" and "Grid-Based Management" models, Beiqiao has subdivided information on 1,305 ex-servicemen into 51 regional grids, establishing community profiles. By implementing a dual-service mechanism based on household registration and residence, the subdistrict dynamically monitors the status of entitled groups, ensuring comprehensive, thorough, and gap-free service coverage. Since 2025, the locality has strictly implemented preferential care policies, disbursing all types of pensions, preferential treatment, and subsidies in full. Projects for aging-friendly home modifications for families of martyrs and disabled soldiers have been carried out, and the "Converging Love Beiqiao" Ex-Servicemen Volunteer Service Team has conducted 12 volunteer activities, including "Warmth on Army Day: Visiting Veterans and Families of Martyrs."
