Oracle Corp. sold shares at an 11% discount to the market price, raising $9.9 billion, as the company's stock came under pressure in volatile trading at the start of the week.

According to a statement late Monday, Oracle sold 86.21 million shares at $116 each, compared with a closing price of $130.67 last Friday before the deal was announced.

Oracle also said it issued $10 billion of bonds on Monday across five tranches with maturities ranging from 3 to 20 years, confirming earlier media reports.

According to filings, Bank of America led the arrangement of both the equity and debt transactions.

To fund massive spending related to artificial intelligence (AI), Oracle has raised billions of dollars this year through share sales to broaden its financing sources.

In addition, Anthropic PBC is preparing for a potential record-breaking initial public offering (IPO), while companies such as Intel Corp., Alphabet Inc., and Meta Platforms Inc. have also carried out large-scale share issuances previously, intensifying the competition for capital among corporations.
