Ant Group has officially announced a significant organizational overhaul, consolidating its Alipay Business Group, Digital Payment Business Group, and Zhima Credit Business Unit into a single, unified Alipay Business Group. The newly formed entity will be led by Wu Minzhi, who will serve as its President while continuing in her role as Ant Group's Chief People Officer.
Wu Minzhi is a seasoned veteran of the Alibaba ecosystem, having spent over two decades at Alibaba Group where she led multiple business lines within the B2B segment. She officially joined Ant Group in August 2021, and has since held the position of Chief People Officer, where she spearheaded internal ranking system reforms and accumulated extensive organizational management experience.
In essence, this merger consolidates payment services, app products, and credit-related operations under one comprehensive business division. Han Xinyi noted in the internal letter that with AI technology advancing rapidly and penetrating industries at an accelerated pace, the agentic commerce sector is on the verge of explosive growth. Alipay's previously introduced "dual flywheel" strategy was specifically designed to capitalize on this pivotal moment.
Over the past three years, Alipay has made consistent investments in AI-powered payments, agent trust mechanisms, AI wallets, the personal life assistant "Abao," the offline "Tap" feature, and multi-terminal ecosystem integration. These efforts have laid a solid foundation for embracing the agentic commerce era. The core objective of this restructuring is to further consolidate technology, product, and ecosystem capabilities while strengthening the merchant service framework — ensuring every user has access to an AI wallet and life assistant, empowering every merchant to better serve customers and drive business growth through Alipay's AI open platform, and making Alipay's agentic commerce ecosystem more convenient, secure, and trustworthy in the AI age.
From a group structure perspective, this integration reduces Ant Group's tier-one business divisions from five to four: the new Alipay Business Group, Credit Business Group, Wealth and Insurance Business Group, and Health Business Group. The organizational consolidation is designed to unite previously fragmented segments, bringing payment, Zhima Credit, and app user products under unified management. This approach reduces cross-departmental communication overhead and enables faster execution of AI-related initiatives moving forward.
