On November 30, the first phase of the Sifang Agricultural Products Supply Center, constructed by Xuzhou Sifang Group, officially opened. With over 80 aquatic product merchants as its initial tenants, the center has taken a crucial step toward becoming "the leading comprehensive agricultural products platform in the interprovincial border region of Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, and Henan."
The project spans approximately 800 acres with a total estimated investment of 1.5 billion yuan. It will be developed in three phases, focusing on establishing a large-scale agricultural products trading center featuring key business segments such as cold-chain meat, grains and oils, premium fruits and vegetables, aquatic products, centralized procurement, and international high-end ingredient retail.
The first phase includes a dedicated aquatic products trading zone, covering both freshwater and specialty aquatic products. The freshwater section offers species like silver carp and bighead carp sourced from breeding bases within a 300–500 km radius of Xuzhou, as well as premium varieties such as perch, mandarin fish, and catfish from Guangdong, Hubei, and Northeast China. The specialty section features products like eel, turtle, crab, and lobster, catering to both wholesale and household consumption.
As a major agricultural hub and regional center, Xuzhou holds unique advantages in developing a comprehensive agricultural trading platform. The Sifang project is strategically located 2.8 km from the Pengcheng exit of the Beijing-Taipei Expressway, 5 km from the Liuxin exit, and 5.4 km from the North Third Ring Expressway, ensuring efficient distribution to surrounding cities.
According to the plan, the project will integrate an offline physical market, an online digital platform, a full-scope distribution network, and a unified settlement system. It aims to serve multiple functions, including acting as a regional agricultural products distribution hub for Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, and Henan, an emergency supply center for Xuzhou’s food basket, and a big data application center for agricultural products.
