Tencent Holding Ltd. reported a 11% year-on-year increase in second-quarter revenue, reaching 204.79 billion yuan, according to its latest financial results released on August 12. The company's Non-IFRS operating profit rose 9% to 75.64 billion yuan. Excluding the impact of new AI products, Non-IFRS operating profit grew 19% to 86.1 billion yuan.
Capital expenditure surged 176% year-on-year to 52.78 billion yuan, reflecting Tencent's continued investment in AI. The company noted that its Hunyuan Hy3 model has rapidly iterated from a preview version to an official release, with weekly call volumes increasing by over 68 times compared to the previous generation. The larger-scale Hy4 model is also scheduled for launch soon. Additionally, WorkBuddy and CodeBuddy continue to lead the domestic AI-native office agent market, with data from Analysys showing WorkBuddy's PC-side monthly visits exceeding 20 million in June. The WeChat AI assistant, "Xiaowei," is currently undergoing a controlled beta rollout.
In the second quarter, Tencent's gaming revenue grew 11% year-on-year, with domestic gaming revenue up 17% and international gaming revenue rising 4% on a constant currency basis. Marketing services revenue increased 22%, while fintech and business services revenue grew 9%, driven by contributions from AI, international business expansion, and increasing demand for general cloud services.
