Gansu International Logistics Group Achieves Leapfrog Growth in Export-Oriented Economic Indicators in Q1

Deep News09:02

The first international flaxseed freight train from Kazakhstan arrived at Zhongchuan North Station in Lanzhou New Area. A JSQ international freight train, loaded with 240 new energy vehicles, departed from Lanzhou International Land Port and reached Tashkent, Uzbekistan. A scheduled "China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan" freight train, filled with daily necessities, set off from Lanzhou International Land Port towards the heart of Central Asia. Since the beginning of this year, Gansu International Logistics Group, closely aligned with the province's "Five Strengths" action strategy, has delivered a substantial and high-quality report card for its export-oriented economy. Statistics show that in the first quarter, the group's import and export trade volume increased by 110.2% year-on-year, while the volume of international freight trains dispatched grew by 30.1%. Additionally, the group contributed to an 84.9% year-on-year increase in the import and export trade volume of the Lanzhou New Area Comprehensive Bonded Zone. The logistical advantage, shifting from "land-sea coordination" to a "westward-focused" approach, is rapidly transforming into a developmental advantage characterized by simultaneous growth in both volume and quality, leading to a leapfrog improvement in export-oriented economic indicators.

Advancing both bulk and specialty goods, the group has enhanced the quality of its international trade. In response to the "Strengthening Industry" action's demand for strategic resource security and the "Strengthening Science and Technology" initiative's focus on industrial innovation, Gansu International Logistics Group has steadily advanced the import of foreign specialty products such as grains, oils, and mineral products, while continuously expanding the export scale of precious metals and agricultural products. The first quarter saw breakthrough progress in bulk commodity trade: the successful importation of 170,000 metric tons of Newman iron ore lumps from Australia marked a new milestone in mineral resource imports and exports. The routine importation of silver concentrate from Peru has provided a stable raw material supply for the province's non-ferrous metal smelting industry chain. In the agricultural sector, the group successfully imported over 2,000 metric tons of high-quality flaxseed from Kazakhstan and nearly 50,000 metric tons of feed-grade wheat flour. It also facilitated the export of 47 metric tons of Jingning apples to Nepal, further broadening the export channels for Gansu's distinctive agricultural products. The group is progressively building a new pattern for international trade characterized by a "stable foundation in agricultural products, breakthroughs in mineral products, and innovation in industrial products," using the resilience of its logistics chain to empower the industrial supply chain.

Enhancing the quality and capacity of freight trains has led to increasingly smooth logistics channels. Aiming to build a "multi-dimensional" transportation and logistics system and establish a "logistics transfer hub," Gansu International Logistics Group is fully committed to creating an international business ecosystem integrating "freight trains + industry," "freight trains + trade," and "freight trains + finance." In the first quarter, the "China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan" rail-road intermodal international freight service was stabilized and increased in frequency to two trains per week. The dispatch volume of scheduled JSQ freight trains achieved a new breakthrough, with a successful inaugural dispatch via the Manzhouli port, opening a new channel for vehicle exports. Leveraging platforms like Lanzhou Land Port and Zhongchuan North Station, the group imported 54,000 metric tons of high-quality feed grain via return freight trains from Central Asia for transshipment, aiding the construction of a provincial feed grain collection, processing, and distribution center. For the first time, Red Fuji apples were shipped to Malaysia via the New Land-Sea Corridor freight trains, opening a new chapter for Gansu's agricultural products in expanding overseas markets.

Deepening overseas nodes has led to steady expansion of foreign cooperation. By invigorating the vitality of local specialty industries and expanding development space through high-level opening up, Gansu International Logistics Group has anchored itself to an international development direction this year, actively connecting with high-quality overseas resources. Deepening its presence in the Central Asian market, the group engaged in in-depth discussions with Kazakhstan regarding the construction of a Eurasia multimodal transport logistics system, jointly promoting the development of overseas logistics bases through asset leasing and equipment exports. To expand into the South American market, delegations visited Peru and Brazil, reaching consensus on enhancing supply chain stability and jointly building comprehensive overseas service platforms. Simultaneously, the group is laying out plans for the Hong Kong and Macau markets, exploring opportunities in bonded warehousing and international distribution cooperation. By connecting overseas resources with county-level specialty industries within the province, such as Jingning apples and Tianshui nuts, the group has effectively addressed bottlenecks in the industrial chain from "the field" to "the international port."

Gansu International Logistics Group will use the strong first-quarter performance as a foundation to continuously focus on the goals of the "Five Strengths" action, continually improving its cross-border logistics and trade service system. This will inject new momentum into Gansu's deep integration into the high-quality co-construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, aiming to build a new inland open economic hub.
