According to officials from both nations, the United States and Japan are in discussions to jointly establish a semiconductor fabrication plant as part of their previously agreed $550 billion investment framework. Sources indicate the project's scale could range between ¥2 trillion and ¥3 trillion, equivalent to roughly $12.8 billion to $19.3 billion. Consultations on the initiative are scheduled for September 14-15. GlobalFoundries has been identified as the potential operator of the facility.
