Gold Futures in New York Climb 3.3%, Silver Futures Surge Over 7.2%

In late New York trading on Monday, spot gold rose 2.38% to $5,229.70 per ounce. COMEX gold futures increased by 3.31%, reaching $5,248.90 per ounce.

Spot silver advanced 3.99% to $88.0245 per ounce, having touched $89.0460 at 04:52 Beijing time. COMEX silver futures jumped 7.26% to $89.000 per ounce, after hitting $89.500 at 04:52.

COMEX copper futures declined 0.59% to $5.8645 per pound. Spot platinum edged down 0.08%, while spot palladium decreased 0.20%.

The Philadelphia Gold and Silver Index closed up 2.70% at 443.32 points. The NYSE Arca Gold Miners Index gained 3.62% to 3,133.73 points during the global trading session.

The materials index finished 0.38% higher, and the metals and mining index closed up 0.64%.
