On December 19, during a roundtable discussion titled "Marking the '15th Five-Year Plan': A Critical Period for Green Transition," Meng Xiangfeng, Party Committee Secretary and Vice President of CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited.), highlighted the expanding applications of batteries in the green transition, which are no longer limited to electric vehicles (EVs) and energy storage.
Meng noted that CATL has provided battery solutions for over 900 electric vessels, now operational in inland waterways and coastal areas. In the emerging low-altitude economy, robotics and control systems are also driving higher demands for battery performance. Additionally, high-energy-consuming industries such as steel and cement require electrification upgrades and supporting energy storage infrastructure to meet carbon reduction goals.
These developments collectively extend the scope of battery applications and create sustained growth opportunities for related industries.
